We’ve known Evie in and around Bondi for a long time. Next year will be her 20th anniversary of living here. And she has been a regular at the Icebergs for almost as long.

We asked Evie what her connection to Bondi is and she told us the story of her father who was born here in 1917. He spent a lot of his growing up years in Bondi and was familiar with every nook, cranny and rock. He grew up to be a professional tap dancer and vaudevillian performer.

His mother, Evie’s grandmother, used to skinny dip out in the bay. Sadly, Evie never got to meet her grandmother but has since become close to a long lost cousin who has been able to fill in some gaps.

It’s easy to see how Evie came to be. And she reckons her son Billy is very much like her father.
